PATOS – SRB

    ABOUT US
    1. PATOS-a – Vladislav Nešić’s signature and typeface logotype. PATOS Youth Theatre was founded in 1986. The acronym PATOS stands for Alternative Smederevo Youth Theatre in Motion:

    Alternative – Our concepts always oscillate between classical, modern, and experimental;
    Smederevo – Where we come from;
    Youth – Because we are always young;
    Theatre – The environment in which we operate;
    In Motion – Always adaptable to specific stage conditions;

    The theatre’s founders are Branislav B. Čubrilović-Čubi (1951-2005) and Vladislav Nešić.

    PATOS emerged as a social need for young people to come together and express themselves through theatre. PATOS is not a traditional or commercial theatre. While its repertoire includes pure classics, the foundation of every performance is experimentation and a small theatrical revolution.

    PATOS brings together young theatre practitioners (professional actors, art students, and other young adults, as well as adolescents) around research and experimental theatre projects. These projects are often carried out in collaboration or partnership with professional theatre and performing arts companies and groups both within the country and abroad.

    PATOS is the only theatre in Smederevo that consistently engages with the performing arts. This success has been confirmed by numerous festival awards, both local and international. The theatre has also been actively involved in numerous national and international artistic projects. PATOS organizes drama workshops throughout the year and presents its own productions at the end of each season.

    Since 2000, PATOS has intensively supported partnerships and collaborations with relevant theatre groups both within the country and abroad through exchange programs, co-productions, and presentations of artistic methodologies and results. PATOS is a powerful dissemination factor for contemporary and innovative art in Smederevo and the surrounding area. The culmination of this trend is the organization, implementation, and promotion of the annual international multimedia festival PATOSoffIRANJE. A special feature of the festival is the Council of Europe Living Library project, which helps people overcome their prejudices and stereotypes and promotes the social inclusion of marginalized groups. PATOS has collaborated with many renowned experts in the field of theatre: Horacio Salinas (Mexico), Salvatore Tramacere (Italy), Goran Završnik (Slovenia), Sasha Rakef (Enlgeska/Slovenia), Marina Milivojević – Mađarev (Serbia), Mr. Sunčica Milosavljević (Serbia), Albin Warette (France), Urban Belina (Slovenia), Novica Bogdanović (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Tatiana Spassov (Bulgaria), Alexander Gronovska (Poland), Silvia Traversi (Italy), Marco Baljani (Italy), Sasha Olsberg (Denmark). PATOS members are constantly developing their theatrical skills. So far, they have gained new knowledge in professional theatres in Austria, Slovenia, Italy and France. PATOS members are forming a strong core and backbone of a new urban culture in Smederevo, laying the groundwork for future cultural endeavors and benchmarks.
